Not all heroes wear capes
The word “hero” is bandied about a lot these days. Unlike those frauds who pull orphans from burning buildings, however, it’s appropriate to apply it to me this week. Read on for the exciting story!

“No, no. ‘Danger’ is my middle name”
In a super exciting turn of events, concrete was poured. Both driveways and assorted paths and patios and whatnot were poured.

As well as various splashbacks;

Anyway; without further ado, the hero story by which all future heroes will be measured.
First things first this week;

You know you’re getting old when concrete is genuinely one of the high spots of your week. Sheesh.
But wait, that’s not all!
Various floors were tiled;

Picture this, if you will;
Your hero (me, natch) arrives on site on Wednesday morning to a tiler who is confused be the spec he has and in particular about the colour of various bits and pieces.
I resolve his issue (by telling him I’ll check with my wife) and take my leave, stopping to polish my halo.
Subsequently, it transpires there was a SNAFU with the quantity of tiles supplied but also, and more alarmingly, there was no allowance (at all!) for splashback tiles in the flat.
Hilariously, nobody could get hold of the PM or the tiler on site so I leapt on my noble steed (Mazda) and high-tailed to site to save the day (again).
It turned out that they needed someone (a hero) to go to the tile wholesalers and pick up sufficient tiles to complete all the required bits.
Did someone say “Hero”?
Enter yours truly. Striding purposefully to save the day. I obtained the required quantity of tiles and, awash with grateful tilers, deposited the extra tiles and rode into the sunset.
Where’s my parade, eh?
Anyway, understated heroics aside (can we look into a medal?), the build marches on. We currently have 17th May as handover, with “final” punch list a week before, where we get to critique the whole shebang and make them fix it up. Fun times.
Until the next riveting Bland Designs, just call if you need a hero.
