Two outta three ain't clad

Rest easy; I've heard your pained cries for more and, lucky, lucky you, I've delivered. 

You're welcome, world. Not all heroes wear capes. 

Anyway; big *big* week at Chez Bland Designs. 

Sparkies were in for first fix;



Complete with their step ladder. Cos their real ladder left when they were a baby. 

Plumbers were in for *their* first fix;



Well, yeah. That resolves it I suppose. I'd rather you hadn't done it in the first place, tbh. 

The Flooring for the attic storage area went in;

Had to go in early Cos they wouldn't have fitted it in otherwise. 

And the heat pump guys didn't do anything, but one was on site for a while. 

Not pictured; anything at all to do with heat pumps. 

The cladding guys did the cavity battens.

And the cladding was delivered 

Phew, I can barely keep up. 

We apparently failed the cavity inspection, but the rocket surgeons at Council have a process whereby they write in the book on site that it failed, but not *why*. They then drag their knuckles back to their lair and send an email telling them why. 

Lord only knows why they can't write in the damn book too. Sheesh. 

Anyway, ran into the PM today on site, and he's said it can't have been anything too major (no email yet) as they had been allowed to start the cladding. Sooooo;



Cladding!! The wires are where outdoor power points will be. I think there are 5 or 6 around the place. 

So, end of this coming (short) week, we will be fully clad and have all First fixes complete. Then, I guess, we can start the inside. 

Apparently, the council inspectors are being difficult about the firewalls on all the places with a minor dwelling attached in the street. Despite the fact that the plans have been signed off as part of the consent. This is less than ideal, but the PM seems to be taking it mostly in stride. I guess he has no choice. 

(So, this title I struggled with. It's kinda a play on "2 out of 3 ain't bad" Cos one lot of tradies haven't done their thing, as well as that we haven't been able to fully clad yet. I know. I'm not happy with it. And I may change it.)

Greetings Blandies, Bad news on the “nearly done” front this week, but first, the progress; Sparkies were in for final fix; This isn’t quite done. But it looks cool.  The switches come in both “on” *and* “off modes. I know, right? The stone benches were installed, along with the fancy pants sinks that long-time readers will recall we bought *ages* ago (got a bargain one night in Toorak).  They look amazeballs, as the cool kids say. Do they still say that? I dunno. Let’s just say they do, yeah? Sweet.  The tiles arrived; along with some of the appliances.  And the wooden flooring went in; And the waterproofing went on; This stuff stank. But the guy was happily painting it on like it was NBD. Bonus blog! So close you can taste it

Greetings Blandies, A flurry of finishing trades graced Chez Bland Designs this week,  The gasfitter came and finished off all the bits and pieces; Not shown, gas bottles. We still need to get those sorted.  Also, the water heaters. Fun fact, the gasfitter had to finish all his bits at once cos the next day he was getting on a plane to England to go and play bowls! I know, right? Like a world champs or something. Weird.  The sparkies finished their fit-off;  Lights (and Sprogs More lights.  Sewage pump control thingy.  That LED mirror though. I mean.  The glass for the shower was finally fitted. It’s very hard to get a decent photo of a pane of glass.  So the plumbers also came to finish of their bits and pieces. This included fitting the four fancy pants taps that we’d provided. Apparently, two of the four taps we supplied leak. We’re bringing splashyback

(I feel like I should apologise for that appalling Justin Timberlake pun. I mean, I’m not going to, and frankly this blog is chock full of puns for which I should apologise, but still) Greetings, my loyal Blandies. I’ve returned to shine a beacon of brightness in your boring lives again.  Again, not all heroes wear capes.  Following on from my heroic escapades (refer previous blog), I’m happy to report the splashbacks have been done; Stoked with the black, just quietly.  And the tiling in the bathrooms has been completed as much as it can before vanities go in; (This photo courtesy Mrs Bland Designs)  ( That shower though)  Wardrobe doors and runners have been fitted; (This also courtesy Mrs Bland Designs)  And carpet has been laid; (Plastic fitted to stop bastard tradies stomping on my new carpet with their muddy bloody boots)  The sparky pointed out today that some of our heated towel rails are ridiculously small (not his exact words) so we’re gonna ...
