It takes a big man to apologise

Image
So, it's taken me mumblety-mumble years, but it's finally happened that I'm wrong about something.  Regular readers may recall that I've been brutally harsh about the lack of floor drains in the bathrooms. Even, it's fair to say, openly mocking the plumber's intelligence, parentage, and ability to read a damn plan.  However, and it's a big however, Jedward turns out to not be the incorrigible donkey fucker I may have accused him of being. Turns out instead of plonking the (frankly, unattractive) drains in the middle of the floor, he's tucked them under where the wall hung vanities will be. A much cleaner and more elegant solution.  So, yeah, soz. My bad.  He's still responsible for this clusterfuck though. So I wouldn't apply to Mensa just yet.  In other news, the biggest stacker in the universe has been fitted, as well as the cavity sliders.  Loooooooook!!! That's the door into the scullery.  Plumber has started first fix, the sparky has don...

Look who joinery-ed the party

I know, that's an awful pun, isn't it? But then aren't most of them?  Anyway, joinery is on site  Pictured; joinery  And some of it is even fitted  Pictured, joinery, fitted.  Although some of it is too big to fit until the scaffold it down (tomorrow)  Pictured; joinery too big to fit until the scaffolding is down (tomorrow) The weather did its part by not hammering down with rain until the roof was on; Pictured; roof doing a hell of a job not leaking 👍 Front doors have arrived with fittings, but unpainted. I'd have thought they'd have painted in the factory and put the fittings on but *shrug* This one will be "oh my god, my retinas yellow". It's a Resene colour.  Aaaaaaaand soffits  Also, my finger I think. I'm still getting used to these fancy new fangled phones with cameras.  The scaffolding (or "scaff", as those of us in the business call it) is due to go tomorrow. It's all go go go. Next week we should have first fix for heat pu...

The roof, the roof, the roof is on site

Image
One for the 90s kids there. With a *hilarious* twist (I changed "fire" to "site". I'm practically Billy Mack). Wait, that should be "an" hilarious twist, shouldn't it? Yeah, I think it should.  Finally, we have reanimation on site. The first since Christmas. Wherein, naturally, the weather was glorious. And they lollygagged around for three weeks and failed to make hay while the sun was, quite literally, shining.  Makes no sense to me, but what do I know? That being said, no builders equals no invoices. So that's handy.  Anywaaaaay, we someone has snuck up and installed the facias and gutters "Oh, I'm guttered mate." Now we have to wait for the roofer to roof the roof with roofing.  (Pictured; roofing for the roofer to roof the roof. Roof) We have to use the "official" roofer guy Cos otherwise they refuse to "warranty" that it'll be "waterproof" or "not leak" (sorry for all the technical...
