Beam me up, Scotty

Image
Little Star Wars joke for you nerds out there. Sitting in your parents' basement hoping, nay, praying that I will grace you with another dusting of my hilarity.  Well, worry not, little nerd. Your dreams have come true.  Today, we have steel beams above the garage  Garage as, bro And above the stacker door in the lounge Look at how big that stacker is! Look at it! Don't make me slap you. I like that the beams are blue. Not that it matters, they'll be covered up soon. Still.  And that, I think, is the completion of the wall framing (other than the bits they fucked up, about which they have said not a dicky bird. I hope they're bracing themselves for some bloody difficult questions when I see them). More fun is the fact that this triggers a payment which is about the GDP of a small African nation. Gulp.  Jeeves; fetch my chequebook.  Also, we got an email today saying, essentially, they'd fucked up the price of the roof and that they wanted us to pay the diff...

In which nobody has a bloody tape measure

Image
So, this has happened Oh well done. *slow clap* That there is a drain. Smack under the damn framing.  Lord, give me strength.  Somehow an actual, presumably qualified, drainlayer doesn't have a tape measure. Or can't read plans. It's anyone's guess at this point.  Also, it appears they've forgotten the floor drains in the bathrooms  Not pictured; floor drains I sent a polite "sorry for being that guy, but where my drains at?) email and have been met with a deathly silence of the grave.  Which is nice.  So they're gonna have to sort that out pretty sharply. Apparently it's not uncommon. Still annoying but.  The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed the framing. The majority of it is up and being able to walk through the rooms is a major trip.

I used my "framed" pun too early

Image
Like a rookie, I used my "framed" pun when the frames were delivered, and I'm far too classy to reuse a pun.  I also used my "erected" pun on the fence. A novice move that I bitterly regret now.  Anyhoo, thanks to my local spy, frames are going up.  All together now; "Thank you local spy". Good.  It's amazing to see the rooms taking shape. Thankfully they don't look as small as they did when it was just the slab. 3D, yo.  I can't see any provision for the floor drains so, like a handsome fly in the ointment, I've set the PM on figuring that out. Better now than later, I guess.  There should be a floor drain in the middle of the floor. But no hole. I'm not a plumber, but I'd have thought a drain needed a hole.  I know, I'm being that guy. But we wanted the floor drains and they agreed it's much better to fix now than when more work has been done.  Or they were humouring me. Whatever.

Communication people!

Sparky; "I haven't heard from the Project Manager. My emails are bouncing" Me; *bites nails* *sends email to PM* PM; "Yeah. I've spoken to the sparky. All under control" Sparky; "Still haven't heard from PM* Me; *bites nails* *sends email* PM; "Yeah, I've talked to him several times. All under control" Sparky; "Can't get hold of PM" Me; *bites knuckles Cos nails are all gone* Cmon people. Sort your shit out.

Woodn't it be nice?

Image
Nothing at all to report really, other than I had a pun that needed to be used.  Woodn't. See, Cos the frames are wood. Maybe wooden't it would have been funnier. Hmm can't decide. You know what? Read it whichever way you want. We're all about self determination here, yo.  So yeah. I'm sorry this whole post  (Not this post) Has been nothing but a pun. You deserve better* and I'm capable of better** Had a quick nose st the neighbour's place today. They're galloping on. And the other side have just broken dirt so it's all go for them too.  Till next time... *not true ** really not true.

We've been framed!

Image
Well, not really framed as such. The prenail frame things (Technical term, yo) have been delivered  Pictured, prenail frame thingies.  Apparently, they were digging drains and stuff yesterday, but the photographic evidence I have for that is poor (cannot get good help these days. Tsk).  So. Yeah. Frame thingies.  Oh, and next door has wrap on and windows in! Exciting.  Fun fact; next door (the house you can see there) is building the original plan we started with (before we altered it to within an inn of its life).  They're also not doing the super smart back driveway that we're doing.

An offensive post

Bugger all to report this week. Nothing much has been done other than temporary fencing being erected.  Heh. Erected.  And because no blog post would be complete without a pun,  I find this post offensive. Get it. Of-fence-sive. Ahh, solid gold.  Prenail should hopefully be there in the next couple of days. Then we just pray for no rain till Xmas.
